L. Trevino Carpet & Tile Co. offers immediate temporary odor control and permanent odor removal/deodorization for many malodors.  Our odor removal methods neutralize odors and do not rely on masking agents or perfumes.

Many things and events can cause objectionable odors.  In addition to the objectionable odor being unpleasant, many events that cause malodor also contribute to poor IAQ (Indoor Air Quality).

Poor indoor air quality, as it relates to malodors, means that there is an odor source which has developed into an unhealthy condition, by means of bacterial growth. Examples of these are: wet carpet, mold and mildew, dead/decomposing mouse, rodent / bird / skunk / cat / dog, pigeon droppings, pet accidents such as cat or dog urine and/or feces, vomit, raw sewage, and rotten/spoiled food, etc. As air currents pass across these breeding grounds for bacterial growth, small particles of the bacteria (spores) are carried throughout the home or building, eventually becoming breathed by the occupants.

In additional to the normally unhealthy air quality conditions created by these sources, the waste products from certain animals, such as pigeons, are known to be responsible for the deadly hanta virus.  Those environments must be decontaminated via special cleaning processes by highly-trained technicians wearing personal safety equipment.

A  unique source of malodor is the spray from a skunk. Often a skunk will find its way under a home and either die or spray fluid from glands in a fine mist, contaminating anything within several feet of the skunk. The makeup of the malodorous skunk spray is very complex. Conventional odor removal methods and deodorizing agents simply aren't effective in the permanent, long-term neutralization of the odor.  There is a successful solution for these odor problems.

Permanent removal of cigarette and cigar (tobacco) smoke odor is becoming in demand more and more people, seeking cleaner indoor air. Vehicles, as well as homes and buildings can be rid of cigarette/cigar smoke odor. Buildings which now do not allow cigarette or cigar smoking still contain the residues and airborne odors once created by smokers, and can be cleaned and deodorized successfully.

Cooking can create undesirable odors, especially when meat, fish, or poultry is overcooked or burned. Each of these different foods require a specific approach to odor removal due to the individual characteristics of each of them.

Some sources of poor air quality result from non-natural events, such as a chemical or gasoline spill indoors, or the burning or smoldering of synthetic materials (like plastic, fiberglass, etc). When one of these events occurs, the same air currents carry the resulting malodor throughout the home or building, penetrating porous materials while airborne (such as curtains and drapes, carpeting, and clothing). Highly toxic compounds are created when synthetic materials burn or smolder.

So, as you can see, removal of odors must often be very thorough in order to address the indoor air quality issue. Through cleaning (source removal) of the affected areas is often a basic essential in odor removal, to ensure safe air quality for occupants. Special-use disinfectants can be applied when necessary.

Immediate, temporary odor control is available when an odor disables a business or institution.  "Passive Environmental Odor Control" is an air purification process, in which the air within a home or building is filtered through a portable high-volume air purification machine, which can be placed upon demand and operated for a period of a few hours to a few days to significantly improve the odor and air quality until a permanent solution for odor removal can be accomplished. This unique service often allows businesses and institutions to remain open, without unnecessary interruption.
